All of these images are from the same roll of Kodak TMAX 100 that expired in 2004. I got it as part of a batch of mixed film that I won in an eBay auction. The camera I used was a Mamiya C330f, twin lens reflex which also came from eBay and this was its first outing. The lens that came with it was a 105mm D which is highly regarded so these are test shots to make sure everything was functioning as it should. Due to its age I wouldn’t have been surprised to find not a lot on the film but despite the contrast being quite low, there’s plenty of detail to be had.

I alternate between HC110 and Rodinal at the moment but with Kodak films I usually use HC110. I’m surprised at how well this film that expired in 2004 turned out 🙂
It’s surprising what excellent image quality the Mamiya TLR’s are capable of — until you remember that they were considered professional-grade cameras probably into the 1970’s.
I have a C220, which is a simpler and cheaper rig, but which uses the same lenses as the 330. I’m amazed by what it can do.

Forgot to add: 100TMX looks fantastic in either HC-110 or TMAX developer. Probably better than in anything else. Good, but not as good, in Xtol.
Have you tried 400TMY in HC-110? I haven’t; wonder how it looks. Tri-X also looks great in it, rated at 200-250.
Do you get full film speed from 100TMX/HC-110? I usually rate at 64-80.

To be honest I have never really gotten on with TMAX films. Maybe it’s the t-grain or just me but I couldn’t get tones and contrast that I liked. This roll came in a mixed bag of expired film from eBay so I thought I’d give it a try.
My go to film in 120 size is Fuji Acros 100, it’s amazing. I also really like Tri-X pushed to 1600.
I rated this TMX100 and my Acros at box speed but usually when setting my exposure I tend to give a little extra, for example if my meter reads f6.3, I’ll round it off to f5.6.
The two developers I currently use the most are HC110 and Rodinal (1:50). I’ve got some Ilford DD-X that I use for Delta 100 but it’s early days for me with that film/developer combo.
Further, forgot to add that HC-110 is a good choice for processing outdated film due to its propensity to restrain fogging.
