Oxford: Summer 8’s 2011 (part IV)

Written by Nasir Hamid on June 19th, 2011

Here are some more black & white shots from Eights week this year. I still have 2 rolls of colour film to develop which I hope to do myself some time soon once I’ve batched enough rolls together to make it worthwhile mixing the chemicals because once they’re mixed they only last a week.

There will be one more set of black & white images to come.

A photographer using a nice old Contax film camera. We had a nice long chat about cameras, photography and Oxford. Unfortunately this frame has suffered from my cameras wind on problem and this was on the very end of the roll so the image got chopped off on the right hand side.

A smartly dressed rowing cox. This is another frame that got chopped off by my camera malfunction but I don't think it's too bad in this shot.

Hello, thanks for photographing me and my rowing bowtie! Actually I was also a cox in addition to being a spectator. 🙂
I also think that your portraits are fantastic, and that those that focus on the person rather than the fashion (such as Anna, or the photo of the man sheltering from the sun, in the prev set) are the strongest and the more provoking!
I’m looking forward to seeing more!

Hey Gabriel, thanks for your comment – I’ve updated your photo caption 🙂
I agree with you about my people/portrait shots being stronger than the fashion/street style ones although I do think the fashion ones will become more interesting in years to come just like looking back at images of what people were wearing in the 80’s and 90’s.
Stay tuned, I’ve got a bit of a back log of great images to post in the coming weeks.
