Photo shoot: Chloe

Thursday, June 6th, 2013

Here are some shots from a photo shoot I had with Chloe around a month ago. It was hard to whittle down my selection because there were so many shots that I liked from this shoot. Chloe is incredibly easy to work with which always makes for a high rate of keepers. I was struggling a little with the harsh late afternoon sunlight but it forced me to make the most of the natural reflectors that were all around us (i.e. the cotswold stone walls). We met outside the Sheldonian Theatre and while I was waiting for Chloe to arrive I noticed a photo shoot going on. The crew had a van full of clothes that was a similar style to those you find at Jack Wills but I’m not sure what brand it was for. They had nice late afternoon light to shoot in so they picked the right day.

[Tech info:] Pentax 6×7, 105mm lens, loaded with Fuji Acros 1o0 and Kodak Tri-X 400, both developed in Kodak HC110 1+31. Anti-clockwise from top right, the first three shots are on Acros 100, the others are on Tri-X.

Photo shoot: Chloe on Fujiroids

One of my favourite times of the year in Oxford is late afternoon/early evening sunlight during spring and summer. The warm coloured light on the colleges and the long shadows are perfect for photography. Here are a few shots from a quick photo shoot I had with Chloe where I wanted to test out one of my cameras that hasn’t had much use recently, my Mamiya Universal. It’s a medium format rangefinder camera that is a bit of a beast but it delivers in the image quality department. I’m not a big fan of rangefinder cameras but the reason I got this one was because it enables me to shoot Fuji instant pack film and Polaroid full-frame, without any blank areas on the print. It’s also completely mechanical which I’m a huge fan of.

Photo shoot: Chloe – glass walls

These images are all from the same roll that I shot with Chloe a couple of months ago in her room at college. The nice thing about this room is that instead of having a standard window, there are two walls of glass that meet in a corner. This was more of a quick test shoot to see what we could come up with in this location and after seeing these I can’t wait to shoot some more there.

Here are some shots from a lunch hour photo shoot I had with Chloe a couple of weeks ago on a day where we were lucky enough to have a little sunshine to photograph in. Regular visitors to this blog are probably familiar with the location because I’ve used it a number of times. I like the lines, angles and shadows and I also like the challenge of trying to make good use of the same location. I’m sure there are some great shots still to be made here.

Photo shoot: Chloe (Fujiroids)

Here are some recent shots I made with Chloe on Fuji instant pack film (similar to Polaroid). Finally the weather has been slowly improving and so has the light for photography. This makes me happy. I also shot some black & white film on these shoots so those will follow once I’ve processed and scanned them.
